Beginners Carving Course. Come and learn to carve a 5 point star in Portland Limestone with Zoë Wilson. The course starts at 9.30am and finishes at 4pm. Tools and materials provided, and even lunch too! You'll receive a follow up email repeating all the information you need about the day, and the option to tell us about any dietary requirements the week before the course.

The course will take place in Zoë’s studio at Project Workshops near Andover in Hampshire. SP11 8PX.
There is ample parking on site including disabled access. When you arrive on the site follow the signs for car parking and then walk back to Zoë's ground floor studio.

Details About The Course
The course runs from 9.30am till 4pm.
As an introduction, Zoë will tell you a little about her background and show you examples of her work.
You will be guided through drawing a geometric pattern and setting out your design onto the stone.
You will be taught how to carve your design using a traditional mallet and chisel.
Zoë will provide all carving tools and the stone to work on as well as everything you will need for drawing the design such as pencils, compasses, ruler etc.
There will be a tea break in the morning and the afternoon. Hot drinks are included but it is advisable to bring a bottle of water.
A selection of bagels and cakes will be provided by TJ Brews for lunch.
Health & Safety
Health & Safety
A briefing on Health and Safety is part of every course. Safety goggles and dust masks will be provided but it is up to the individual if they wish to wear them.
Sturdy covered shoes must be worn in the studio, steel toecaps are not essential but a good idea if you have them.
Zoë will advise on best practice for health and safety but it is up to the individual to follow these guidelines.
Zoe Wilson does not accept responsibility for injury to students or loss or damage to their property.
Warm clothing should be worn, the studio does not have central heating but Zoë will endeavour to ensure it is a comfortable temperature.
Stone Carving is a dusty craft and old clothes or an apron/overalls are appropriate.

Should you find you are unable to attend the course please let Zoë know by email as soon as possible. Every effort will be made to fill your place, however a refund can only be given if this has been possible.
Should the course be cancelled for any reason all money paid will be refunded.
Should you be late for the course please email or phone Zoë as soon as possible. If you were more than one hour late it would not be possible to join in as you would have missed too much.
Participants are responsible for their own transport to and from the course location.
