Making Peace

I started designing this piece right at the beginning of the Covid pandemic lockdown. Whilst looking through an old sketch I found a small zentangle type doodle I made during my diploma. I really liked the form and felt it would be interesting to carve.

Using Welsh slate allowed me to achieve a high level of detail and beautifully crisp lines. I marked the pattern on stone simply with a pencil and ruler, and then spent a lovely time watching the design develop and grow whilst I carved it. A wonderfully peaceful process.
